Not That I Bother about Such Things...

I honestly wasn't going to blog anything about France's (I suppose I should say "our" since I'm a dual national) wild and crazy president and his paramour. If there's one topic I want to avoid on La France Profonde, and one "French" term I detest, it's "les people."

But my parents just sent me a quick (3 minutes, 7 seconds to be exact) NPR broadcast by Scott Simon. And if you have 3 minutes, 7 seconds (to be exact) this morning and would like to spend it chuckling, listen to "Sarkozy and Bruni, a French Love Controversy."

For over a year I have had Carla Bruni on my IPOD. Who is Carla Bruni my husband asked. I had no idea - we have been learing french for almost 3 years and our teacher told us that we should listen to some french music, so I searched on ITunes and found Carla. Been singing her songs for a year. I couldn't believe it when the news came on with her dating him.

The coverage these two are getting is SO American. It's all over our news. Not what he is doing or wants to do for the french and the economy...it about his love affair with this woman, who they bash every chance they can get. Oh my...he got divorced! Oh my...he's dating this woman. OH MY!

Times they are a changing...

Noone knew Crala Bruni here! even my boyfriend had no idea, Now, they all talk about her; the only they want to know is if he is going to marry. As a French woman, I do not care. NS has a lot to do with French economy, so that's the most important thing!

What alisa is said is depressing. There's already an America. The rest of the world should avoid being like us!

I don't usually "bother about these things" either, but that was well worth listening to. Thanks!

I love this sort of punchy American satire. I'd like to make some Europeans who are always saying Americans don't have a sense of humor (yes, they DO say that) listen to it!

I'm going to try to get to this one of these mornings. I miss NPR and forget I can still listen!
