It's official. The razing of the Hall Charles in Rodez starts this week. Built about forty years ago for an exhibition, Totem radio reported yesterday that the building was never meant to be kept up permanently. But stay it did, hosting innumerable shows, exhibitions and trade fairs over the past years.
You will probably agree that it is looking down in the tooth, yet it is -- or was -- another funky old part of Rodez that I am happy to be able to capture in this blog. New plans for the Foirail area should make this part of town much more dynamic and attractive.
In the meantime, Ruthénois can look forward to observing plenty of grands travaux -- not just here, but also in other parts of town.

This is good news-it looks as though it was over due!
That looks just like the building at the Parc des Expos in La Rochelle!
I agree it is time for a change. But I always feel a little sad when I see buildings torn down, no matter how unattractive they are!
It's quite strange...As a former Ruthénois, I've always been bored by the look of these shapeless "halls" but now that they're gonna be destroyed, I'm feeling a bit nostalgic !
Anyway, thanks a lot for this incredible blog ! Now living in Paris, I'm always looking for fresh informations about my hometown...that i've learned to rediscover after having gone away from it.
