On the road again

My daughter and I are skipping off to another area of France this weekend for a one-night trip to see friends.

It's always great to get away and see new -- or in this case, familiar -- parts of the country. It will also be a chance for eldest daughter to work on her driving skills outside of Aveyron, which she knows so well. (She has the equivalent of a driver's permit now, and will be practicing with us until she can get her permis de conduire at the age of 18.)

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we will be having the same weather as in the above photo, but we will be near the same place.

Any guesses as to where?

It's on our list of places to go for a long weekend this year and I think it's the red town in Corrèze.

Wow, that was fast! One, two, three strikes and I'm out!

Lesley, that whole area is worth a visit, not just Collonges. Be warned, though -- Collonges is dead off-season (but kind of fascinating too.)

Meredith -- Darn all of these overlapping networks!

Philhellene -- Oh, I wish you would comment more! I love finding out about my lurkers! Thanks for taking the plunge....

The joices of 'la conduite accompagnée'! God bless the parents'patience! I remember having had so much arguments with my daughter who didn't want to listen to me. As soon as I said something, she immediatly answered 'the instructor said ...and you're wrong! MUm, You have forgotten your road rules, you must be a dangerous driver!'

I would have guessed the Périgord from the architecture, but I wouldn't have been able to pin down the village. Alas, so many places, so little time.

We've actually been having no trouble with "conduite accompagnée," although there were a few tense moments on our first drives.

papadesdeux -- I'm not really sure if Collonges la Rouge is technically in Périgord...it is in the Corrèze department, which I somehow never associate with Périgord (=Dordogne mainly?) I could be wrong here though. But at least I know how to get there! Rodez-Decazevile-Figeac-Gramat-Rocamadour (off to the side)- Gluges-Martel or St.Denis-près-Martel! It's an interesting drive.
