No, not really. But I sure got you worked up, didn't I?

Actually, I'm being vetted as a possible replacement for Sarah Palin in case she drops out of the race.

I mean, why not? I'm an American from a small town. I look pretty sharp when I wear glasses, too.

And hey, the country I'm living in now shares borders with a whole lotta foreign countries! That certainly qualifies me to be Vice-President, and maybe even President, of the USA.

I mean, I can see Spain from here! And I even know the name of its president!

No seriously...

It-- it's funny that a comment like that was-- kind of made to-- cari-- I don't know, you know?

Hahaha this is possibly the funniest one of your posts - ever. Good luck with the race!

But you've forgotten two things. Spain is our enemy and, well, France. Doesn't that make you a Muslim commie or something like that?

Oh, I know. ::sigh:: Just when I think the US (or the Republicans) can't get more any more ridiculous... in comes Sarah Palin! I seriously have trouble sleeping at night thinking that she could be president of my country.

Have faith. She won't be. I'm feeling quite sure of it.

Randal -- Oh no, not since Sarkozy came to have his fabulous vacation in the States. It's a new world here, dont'cha know?

Tinsie,

Don't think I don't know my weak points. I don't know how to hunt, for one thing. And I don't own any red suits. But other than that...

You got me worried for a moment!
You certainly seem far more qualified for the job that this strange VP (and what is a VP supposed to be doing?) lady.

Betty C.:

Keeping Palin on the GOP ticket will be offering the White House to Obama/Biden on a plate. Then she can get back to using a high-powered rifle to shoot at animals from planes. Or is that what she means by governing the "largest state"?

It's sort of, you know, ah, I don't know, ....... kind of frightening.

Betty, I back you completely. Here are a couple links to improve your credentials:

At least your parents were of that "culture that gave you a passport and a backpack to travel the world" after graduating whereas Sarah Barracuda couldn't get a passport until last yr because she preferred to work 2 jobs ( yeah right) whilst having have fun in Hawaii and 3 other colleges over 6 yrs and "understood the world through education, through books, through mediums that have provided her a lot of perspective on the world" :o

Is witchcraft one of the media, btw? :-)

As a replacement on the ticket . . .

In what respect, Charlie?

wcs said...

ok, ok... but can you conjugate the verb "to moose" in the subjunctive?

Betty Carlson said...

tut-tut -- There is talk from conservative camps that she should drop out gracefully, but I'm relishing the prospect of her staying on. I think either way, they're sunk.

wcs: Mais of course!

I, too, found this post pretty amusing. I would love to meet up with you sometime, as I know a grand total of 3 people here--two assistants and the person in charge of us :) If you'd like my email, it's emileebess@gmail.com.

Steve,

Thanks for the links! I'll try to cram all that moose-hunting information into one long jumbled sentence. And it will also make me feel so much readier if any moose rears its ugly head into aveyronnais airspace!

Your headline was an attention grabber, no doubt. I wish I was as confident as you (I think was you, maybe it was a comment left)about having no doubt that McCain/Palin were going to fall flat. There are so many people here that will vote Republican even after all of the debacles of the last 8 years. It is truly amazing, and frightening!!

Very droll my friend!

I love your "to moose" conjugation too.

And let's not forget the imparfait du subjonctif... que nous moosiassions!

Hi ! first time poster but somewhat regular lurker

I didn't knew Spain got rid of its King , good to know !

You could indeed be a credible vice-president !

;-)

Betty Carlson said...

I actually do know that Spain has a king, and that there is some debate about whether Zapatero should be called Prime Minister or President, so I gotcha there!

And dggone it, yes I could be a credible vice-president, bandini -- can I call you bandini? -- because in this great country of ours, political knowledge is part of education, which is a priority that I care deeply about -- and by the way hello to you third-graders from my brother's class who are watching the debate, you get extra credit -- as I was saying, it's a priority that links directly to the problem of the bail-out and health care, which are all important questions of change to the great maverick who is the only candidate who has actually fought for our country and its freedom.

Gosh darn it, I hope I got that straight.

DOGGONE IT!

Ouf !
I was kinda playing on the stereotype of "americans and geography" there, in the most respectful way of course. ;-)

You sure can call me Bandini.

As a frenchie I try to get informed with american politics as much as I can , but I'm getting election fatigue right now.

As for Governor Palin , well , her believing that the earth is 6000 years old and that humans and dinosaurs lived side by side (in harmony surely )is more than I can handle ,frankly.
It just doesn't compute.

Homestly when I first heard about it , I thought it came from "the Onion" !

You are far too educated. And, remember, it is the McCain agenda not to communicate with Spain who are soon to be included in the new and expanded access of evil. Joe six pack doesn't like the elitist flamenco.

Betty Carlson said...

Bandini,

Oops! The English in your first comment was so good, I thought you were an English-speaker. So I hope you "got" my reply. It was written in Palinese. It's kind of a fun language to write in, actually.
