The Saillac Series: Post One

Being away from Aveyron for the summer makes posting about the area more challenging. I've brought a lot of photos with me to the USA , but I'm suffering from a lack of context.

Maybe it's time to go back to some other places that are equally important in my French life.

One is Saillac, a tiny village in the Corrèze department, not far from Martel in the Lot.

We have close friends there, and the area has been one of my family's vacation havens for the past seven years or so. One of my favorite photos on this blog was taken there on a crisp winter morning.

Another was less complimentary, and elicited a few squawks from my friends --and rightly so, for Saillac is a far more charming place than this photo implies.

Over the next few weeks, discover some frosty photos of winter in Saillac -- another intriguing corner of La France Profonde.

Thanks for your comments. We used to live in the Tarn and it is a beautiful area too. I loved it but find the Aveyron a little more peaceful and also not quite so hot...the whole Midi-Pyrenees is really fascinating, though.

I hope you can plan another trip to see more!

Betty -- how oh how did I miss your blog all this time? I'm fairly new to the blogging world, as you've probably already noticed (and as stated in my tagline!) and I have so much to catch on... So much great stuff to read here -- and WOW, 3 BLOGS! I'm blown away... How do you find the time? I have a hard enough time keeping up with mine, or for that matter motivating myself to be consistent enough in my blogging. I have a lot to learn! I love your banner -- what a great photo.

In any case, I'm so happy to have found you! Thank you for stopping by and commenting on my blog.

Thanks for your kind comments, Late Bloomer.

I guess I must say that things are kind of quiet in the Aveyronnais countryside, and blogging has become my hobby of choice. I'm actually starting a fourth blog! But it's under wraps for the moment...
