Although I write about life in rural France, the truth is I am not that isolated. I live in a village of over a thousand inhabitants; I go to work in a dynamic medium-sized town. Some Aveyronnais, however, live and work in sheer isolation. Could you do it?

Fabulous photo.
Being a social animal I couldn't do that full time but as a retreat from real life, for the summer, then i could.
I once spent a fortnight in a gite above Najac - idyllic - and then I could have stayed for ever! Now, though, I'm not so certain - I'd need to improve my schoolgirl French, that's for sure!
