Smiling Faces

"Smiling faces sometimes pretend to be your friend:

Smiling faces show no traces of the evil that lurks within:

Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes they don't tell the truth, uh:

Smiling faces, smiling faces tell lies and I got proof:"

The lyrics are an extract from the song "Smiling Faces" by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong.

No links provided because here's a fun trivia question instead:

Who made this song a hit?

Obviously, no online research allowed!

Oh my; if you hadn't asked, I would have had the answer! I remember this; Motown person, no?

I haven't got a clue - but I love the photos!

Yes, tut-tut, the song was written for Motown and recorded by several artists. But the ones who made it a hit were not especially famous -- which is what makes the question interesting.

I have no idea. But, I love the red trim and the iron and the face. No county does windows like France.

Maybe I'm one of the only people out there who even knows the song! I don't know why I made that association...it just came into my mind.

I have no idea either. The faces above the windows remind me of the celtic plaques (green spirit, green woman, etc.). Very pretty. Each window has a personality.

Function, there were even a few more faces but they didn't have nice red shutters under them! I'll save them for future use...

Um....the Temptations? That song used to scare me as a kid! And I think it would have come to me as well while looking at these windows, so you're not too weird. Or we both are.

I don't know but I love the windows.

JodyU, I'm first wondering if you're the JodyU I know! I went to your blog link, but it didn't seem like an appropriate place for social chitchat. And I wondered: is this the OSD I know/knew?

As for the song, the Temptations did record it, but they didn't make it a hit. I don't think anyone will know who did. I sure didn't until I looked up a few things about the song for my post...

Answer to come soon...

I don't know if I've ever heard that song-love the photos. Windows and doors always attract me.

My music trivia abilities are terrible. But I love the pairing of the lyrics with these great windows and detail. Just one more thing I love about France!

I can hear the song in my mind... Lovely deep voice Motown, I think. I can even hear the backup...but, sorry, no name!
Unless...Lou Rawls?
